"Yours" and "yaws" sound exactly the same to me!

Have grown calabrese, and I know they denature alcohol though for what purpose I have no idea.

Without looking it up, does anyone know a word beginning with Tz? I'd love to see it in a crossword.

Wow a different Captcha

Very good all, and especially malone who lighted on the one I was thinking about. My father grew a rose called Tzigane and I was listening to music called that by Ravel when I was writing my post.
I had two lovely books as a child, "The Good Master" and "The Singing Tree". I only have the first now. First published in 1937, they are about two Hungarian children and I've been interested in Hungary ever since.

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here.
Had a wee trek on the Nature Trail earlier.
Another tricky setter in today's puzzle!
I have finished, almost.
One answer I am unsure about.
Think it's an Aussie word.
Several words are new to me, but an entertaining puzzle for all that!
All quiet on the Orlando front!

Good morning, Rusty!
We have a bright and sunny day here, too......very hot already, though.
You were out and about early on the Nature Trail!
I have done my morning walk, but have no further specific plans for today .......so far as I know!
Yesterday turned out to be a day of surprises, though, with unexpected visitors "dropping in"!
The plumber has just phoned with his estimate for the bathroom.......it seems reasonable, so we have told him to go ahead.
He is coming mid August, which I think should fit in all right with my elder daughter's proposed visit.
I shall now make a coffee, and take a look at the crossword.....it sounds hard though, from what you have said!
You will probably hear from the girls later on.... they will be sending you photos!

Hello, Ros!
I was going to suggest "tzar".........an alternative spelling to "tsar".
But Rusty has beaten me to it!

Update, Rusty!
I have had a lot of trouble with today's crossword!
I have been looking at it off and on in between doing various jobs......but am finding it difficult.....
There are three clues that I cannot do....... one I cannot parse...and I have come across two new words.....
I rather think this is beyond my capabilities!

Hello, Elle!
That's a pity!
Best throw it away, maybe?
I may have mentioned before but the editor likes to have Wednesday's puzzle the hardest of the week.
No idea why!
I have one I have no idea about.
Could be an Aussie word, but I've left it.
There will be another puzzle along tomorrow!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
It rather sounds as though the one you cannot do, is one of those three that are stumping me?
Is it 22a where it mentions "Australian" in the clue?
I have S?I?E?
I thought the answer might be "sliver" as that is a narrow piece split off from a larger block....
But that doesn't seem to have anything to do with "youngster" or to be something said by an Australian?
Do you think accent/ pronunciation comes into this?
The other two I can't do are 5a and 12a ...
Now "metadata" and "Ramen " were new words to me......I had to look them up in the dictionary to check their meanings ...
But they at least were gettable from the parsings...... I liked those!
But overall, I admit to losing heart over this puzzle!
