Hi, Rusty!
Oops, sorry! I fell asleep!
It seems I have woken up just in time to go to sleep again......but this time in bed!
I thought I would quickly reply first.
I hope the solar panelling works ....you may need a lot of sun for it to be effective?
But it certainly sounds a good idea.....
I had a phone call from an old school friend earlier........it was nice to chat!
We have always lived reasonably close over the years, and used to meet up regularly once a month.......until she and her husband moved to be nearer to family, now that they are getting older.
We miss our meetings.......so we now email or phone!
Right, now I really am away to my bed!
G' night!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine day here!
I have to collect my car and the rest of my day is free!
Yes, I hope the solar panel is effective, too.
I am off out for my paper now!

Good morning, Rusty!
A wet start to the day here......cagoule and walking boots needed this morning!
I am hoping it lets up for a bit, so that, later on, the new plants can be transferred to the baskets and pots, without our getting soaked in the process.
Have you been to collect your car yet?
Was fitting the solar panel an expensive process?

Hello, Elle!
You have rain?
It is glorious here!
No rain at Portrush, too!
A bit rain in the garden won't harm you.
My son gave me a run to the garage and I have my car at home.
I am not sure what you class as "expensive", Elle.
The panel cost £24 and they had to replace a Honda clip (£10) while fitting it.
The clip is designed to break (something to do with the air bags).
No labour charge, as a favour, as my son does jobs for the owner and members of the team.
I think ordering the parts and fitting took around thirty minutes.
I am happy with the cost.

Hi, Rusty!
Good that you have your car back!
It was nice of your son to take you to the garage.
I hope the solar panel works.
£34 sounds very reasonable to me.....but then I really have no idea what such a concept might possibly cost?
Not paying for the cost of labour obviously makes a great deal of difference .......leastways, it does for anything around here.
London prices seem to be extortionate!
Our Insurance premiums, for instance, go up just for having a London postcode!
I am dealing with a backlog of correspondence this morning.......
It is still raining heavily here !

Hello, Elle!
Still great weather here.
We have a weather warning for heavy rain, and possible flooding, though
The panel is working.
There is a tiny green light comes on when it is charging, which is during daylight.
There are dozens of different ones available.
Google "solar power car battery charger" and there is a huge choice.
My garage chose the one I have.
If you have a cigarette lighter in your car that functions when the ignition is switched off, you simply plug the panel connector into that.
Mine only functions when the ignition is on, so needed a different way of connecting to the battery.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I had never heard of a solar battery charger prior to your mentioning it!
It could well be the answer to our problem, too?
I have no idea whether our cigarette lighter functions when the ignition is off.......no one ever uses it!
I shall pass all this on to my husband, and if he fancies the idea (I think it's a good one) he can have a word with our mechanic friend.
At present, my husband has to take the car for an extra little "outing", ever so often, just to keep the battery going.
What are you up to, today?
Are you watching the Tour de France and /or golf?
Gardening is out of the question for us, unless the rain slackens off.
And I don't think I shall take the dog for another walk........
There is thunder in the air......and she is jittery.
She will not want to go out.

Hello, Elle!
Push the cigarette lighter in when ignition is off and see if it pops out glowing!
If your system tells you your battery charge is low, a good run should restore it (if you have a sound battery).
It was the garage owner who suggested it to me.
He had installed one for his Dad, who, like me, does few miles.
But, I think it is an excellent idea for your husband to mention it to your mechanic pal.
I am mainly watching the golf until the Tour leaders start.
Fastest goes last, you see.
The wind is rising here and some rain a-falling!

Hi, Rusty!
It has been a thoroughly miserable day here weather wise....
And tomorrow, we are threatened with thunderstorms for most of the day!
Now I do not mind walking in the rain, as I have all the necessary wet weather gear.... but the dog is afraid of thunder.....and I must admit to my not liking lightning.
Let us hope for a calm spell first thing in the morning, when I take the dog out for her walk.
I have had a good day catching up with my correspondence.
How have you fared with the golf?
I do not understand why the fastest cyclists go last?
If they are racing, and are the current leaders , then surely they have won the right to go first?
It is not making sense to me?
No crossword today - I have had a break!

Hello, Elle!
Bit wet and windy here, too.
I am enjoying the golf.
Portrush is a proper golf course!
The riders go in reverse order of their placings in the general classification.
Yellow jersey is last man off.
If it was the other way, folk would lose interest quickly after the first 10 or so riders had finished.
In reverse order, the interest and excitement is held right until the end.
Alaphilippe won!
I wonder if France may have found the rider they have lacked for so many years!
Tough luck for Wout van Aert.
He crashed into a barrier and his Tour is over.
He was doing very well, too.
I finished my puzzle early this morning!
