Good morning, Rusty!
A sunny and warm day here......rain was forecast from 10am, but hasn't arrived yet!
Is "The Sunday Post" a local paper?
That may be why I had never heard of "Oor Wullie"?
I like learning about folk legends.....especially when they are commemorated by a statue to honour the story!
I know of course about St George and the dragon......but had not heard of Martin who avenged the nine maidens.
It makes interesting "history" for there to be a farm and railway station called after the dragon......and a village and a pub named after the hero and the victims!
Did you discover anything further about Dennis the Menace?

Good morning, Elle!
It's a fine day here, too.
The Sunday Post is produced in Dundee and is sold all over Scotland.
It is many years since I read it.
"Oor Wullie" and "The Broons" are two comic strips which are in it.
There is a stone in a field near Strathmartine to commemorate the spot where Martin slew the dragon.
There are symbols on it which may be Pictish.
I have not looked up Dennis yet.
We have statues of penguins and lemmings, too!
On the Dundee coat-of-arms there are two dragons.
But I don't know why!

Hi, Rusty!
I have read with interest about your coat of arms!
And it prompted me to find the one for Bromley!
Here you go...I hope the link works......

As you can see , we have a horse and a dragon on ours....
I wonder why dragons are so popular?
The coat of arms for Bolton has two supportive lions!
I have just spoken to my daughter on the phone....she rang in her lunch break instead of on her way home.
Oh dear...if she told my why...I have already forgotten!
Have you done your crossword? I've yet to start mine.......

Hello, Elle!
Dragons all over the place!
There must be a good reason for the dragons.
Miss L-B has just gone.
She came to visit me!
Yes, I've done my puzzle.
A good one, and several new words for me!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I must do some research into why dragons are so important.....although we have lions on the Bolton crest.
That was nice , having Miss La Bamba come to visit you.
Were you expecting her?
Or was it a surprise?!
Now, the puzzle....."hendecagon" was a new word for me!
I had to look it up!
I think 23a:" instantaneous" was my favourite clue.
I haven't been able to do 25a:
I have ?N?N?S
and 19d: N?N?T?K
I have no ideas?
What am I missing here, please?
Tennis is rained off at Queens!

Hello, Elle!
I am watching Royal Ascot racing!
La Bamba and me were going to Pine Cone but I called off, and she came to visit me instead.
Was great seeing her!
25, is "ananas", another name for a pineapple, I think.
"a nan (h)as".
19, (new to me) is "nunatak", an outlying peak on a mountain.
Sounds like "none attack".
A good puzzle today!

Now G has crashed and been taken to hospital (from the Tour of Switzerland). Not thought to be anything like as serious as Froome, though, at the moment.

Hi, Rusty!
I hope you are okay?
It isn't often you turn down the chance to go to the Pine Cone.......
I hope it was not because you are feeling "under the weather"?
Now the clues....
I knew neither of those words...ananas or nunatak.
Thank you. for the explanations.
I do not pronounce "nun" like "none" though?
How is Royal Ascot going?
Do you have any bets placed?
It is still raining here......

Good evening, Elle!
It's a fine evening here.
Yes, I have a bit of a bug.
I'll be fine in a couple of days.
Royal Ascot is going fine but I prefer Cheltenham.
I had two losing bets today.
May try again tomorrow!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear...well, I hope you will soon feel better.... be careful and take care over the next few days.
It was lovely of your granddaughter to come and check on you, and keep you company at home, as it wasn't advisable for you to go out.
I have been watching the prospective Conservative candidates making their pitch for Prime Minister....each trying to shout down the other.....no one seems able to finish a sentence.
It is a pity that one cannot take the best qualities and abilities of each, and make an amalgam!
I never did get back to check whether there was any tennis at Queens?
It has been raining on and off for most of the day here.
