Hello, Elle!
Bob was born Leslie Townes Hope in 1903.
He became Bob around 1929.
I just watched him on a talk show with Dean Martin, but he could barely get a word in.
Dean Martin dominated the show and appeared a tad blootered.
He was very funny!
I find it very handy to have Collins bookmarked.
A very good dictionary!

Hi, Rusty!
I love the word "blootered" !
That is a new one to me.
I presumed it meant "very drunk", but looked it up to check!
I'm not sure I can introduce that into the park conversation though...
Folk might become offended if asked if they got "blootered" last night...!!
I know "blotto", but that does not have the same punch ( sorry about the pun!)

Hello, Elle!
"Blootered" is in common usage up here.
A great word!
You could say "I saw my neighbour, several doors down, rolling home last night, absolutely blootered and singing like a lintie!"
Be a tad vague about which neighbour, though.
You don't want to start a war!

Rusty, I've always loved the wide variety of Scottish words for drunk. As well as 'blootered', I also like 'steaming', 'fou/fu' ' and one that might be common only in the west, 'miroculous'. The most evocative for me is 'greetin' fou' - when a drunk is at the tearful stage!

Good morning, Malone!
Not heard of "greetin' fou'" but I understand it.
Not certain of the spelling, but "stocious" is a favourite of mine, and "wrecked" is quite common in these parts
My favourite is "blootered", though.
Very evocative!

Good morning, Rusty!
We have a lovely sunny day here ...a bit chilly as yet, but promising to reach 15C by lunchtime.
I have a free day ahead of me!
Coffee and the crosswords next....
Another walk this afternoon!
How about you?

Good morning, Elle!
Very foggy here.
Hope the sun can burn its way through as the day wears on.
Miss O is collecting me at 11, so I have been getting myself all redded up.
Do you know "redded"?
The Kirkintilloch folks will know it, I'd say!
Good luck with your puzzles!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, you must have our fog!
This is the first morning for several days that we have not had any.
Yesterday, the fog was very dense indeed!
I know "readied"? as in "prepared for" ?
"Redded" must be similar?
I am sure that you scrub up very nicely!
I have finished the Everyman long since,,,, more straightforward this week , without too many objections to be made, I think...
But much too easy!
I shall take a look at the Cryptic ST shortly.
Have a good time with Miss O!

Hello, Elle!
Just home.
Had a nice time.
Miss O is off to St Andrews, now.
Our fog is lingering!
"Redded" means "cleaned up" or "tidied up".
Miss O complimented me on my kempt appearance!
Made my day!

Hi, Rusty!
You are to be congratulated on "passing muster" with your granddaughter!
(Did she actually use the word "kempt"? That sounds suspiciously like one of your words)
Yes, I think "redded" must be affiliated to "readied" - the meanings are much the same, aren't they?
We are tossing up whether to go out for another walk...or to do some gardening..... My husband is tending towards the latter, so I think I shall go look out my gardening gloves......
Our daffodils are somewhat of a disappointment this year.
We had planted a lot more bulbs, but only the usual amount of flowers have come out...
I had expected a "host of golden daffodils" !
