Hi, Rusty!
I am checking in during an advert break on "The Voice"....
I think possibly I have been told about "tent" for "wine" before?
But I had forgotten about it?
I didn't think of "ace" for "buff".
However, at least I knew that a tentacle is an organ!
So may I get a couple of Brownie points?
Back to the programme...!
(Are you recording it?)

Thank you, too, Malone....

Thanks, Rusty. I really did swither about posting...wasn't it nice to see 'swither' getting a mention in the Feedback column today! I didn't want Elle to be left feeling scunnered.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, "tent" crops up from time to time!
You should write it down in your wee black book, like Anne Bradford does!
No, not recording "The Voice" this week.
My machine is set to record a Fats Domino documentary.
I really liked Fats!

Hello, Malone!
I like the Feedback column, and Rose!
Always something to learn in it.
Not so sure Elle would know "scunnered"?
Maybe she has came across it when visiting the Kirkintilloch branch of the clan, though!

'Scunnered' is such a wonderful word, Rusty, I feel the whole world should know it - and use it more often! Elle can be in charge of spreading it throughout the south-east of England.

Hello, Malone,
Well, Elle is out every day doggie-walking and meeting lots of folk, so she would be ideal for spreading the word.
Or even a phrase.
"I took an awfy scunner to that man"!

Hi, Rusty!
No matter, Rusty, you have a chance next week to see some of the Battle Rounds of "The Voice" - they are usually interesting, and highly competitive.
Next after that are the Knockouts!
But I knew that you wanted to watch the Fats Domino documentary......I just didn't realise that the programme was tonight.
(I am recording "Casualty" whilst watching "The Voice". Usually the two programmes tend to overlap)
Yes, you are right - I did not know "scunnered"!
But Online Collins tells me it means " annoyed, discontented, or bored" or "nauseated or disgusted"
Now..... why ever should I feel any of those emotions had I to wait for an answer to my clue (see Malone did not want me "to feel scunnered")
I do not understand?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I'll record it next week.
Just discovered Bob Hope's first name was Leslie and he came from Eltham.
That in your neck of the woods?
Fats was a hero of mine and Elvis Presley called him the "King".
Fats was a shy, humble, man.
I am looking forward to the documentary!
Perhaps "scunnered" would be a wee stretch for you a-waiting an answer, possibly "bored" though.
In Norn Iron they have "scundered" but the meaning is different.
Have you bookmarked Collins Dictionary?
I have, it's handy to have it there at the press of a key, I think.

Elle, I've always thought 'scunner' (as a verb and a noun) was a very versatile word. 'Scunnered' can mean bored, fed-up, disgusted and so on. I was 'scunnered' last week when I had to wait in all afternoon for the gasman.

Hi, Rusty!
I did not know that "Bob" was just a stage name?
Is the "Hope" part genuine?
Eltham is in South -east London, yes, but not very close to me.
It is nearer to my daughter, who lives near Welling.
I remember Bob Hope mostly from "The Road to Morocco" with Bing Crosby!
No, I agree with you, "scunnered" was not an appropriate word to use for my waiting for you to reply!
I would indeed be very ill-mannered were I to become even "bored" , by just a short wait!
It was obviously just an inappropriate misuse of the word.......
And I have anyway learned a new word to add to my vocabulary!
I haven't bookmarked Online Collins, but will do so forthwith!
