Good morning, Elle!
Great day here, and mild.
Like a Spring morning.
Hope this weather lasts.
The goslings are not doing very well?
Hope the last one survives.

Hi, Rusty!
No, these Egyptian geese are rotten parents...I think the sole remaining infant should ring "Child Line"!
I have had some online ordering to do this morning...and a couple of letters to write.
And, of course, the crossword to attempt......
I am finding the bottom of the puzzle very difficult.....
There are four clues that I cannot do.
It is too early to ask for help, though, so I shall put it aside for now.
Inspiration may strike later!

Hello, Elle!
It is a very good idea to put your puzzle away for a while.
The break will clear your head and often the answers will come to you when you approach it again with mind afresh!

Hi, Rusty!
I am home again now, here to remain for the rest of the day.
What a wonderful afternoon!
Incredibly warm...apparently 20C!
I have maligned the geese - the "missing" goslings were there this afternoon.
No -one could see them anywhere this morning...certainly not in the company of their parents.
My daughter will be phoning soon.
Have you been out for a walk?

Hello, Elle!
20C !
That's warm!
Benn a fine day here, too.
Good news about the goslings!
One of my favourites on BBC is Joanna Gosling!
I was out earlier, had a card to post, then had a walk around the building site.
Wasn't speaking to any of the lads today, though.

Hi, Rusty!
Apparently, today is the hottest February day on record within 21 years.
We are considered to be having a winter "heatwave", because it "meets the criteria of having a temperature at least 5C above the seasonal average for five continuous days".
I did not know that specification!
But ...alas....this is all due to come an end soon.
Seemingly, from next week, severe storms will bring heavy rain and gale force winds, with snow expected in 'high places'.
It sounds as though March will be coming in "like a lion"!
How is the new Aldi coming along?

Hello, Elle!
It is very unseasonal weather, but I welcome it!
I have not heard about the bad weather coming.
One of the worst Winters up here, was the Winter of 1947, and the snow did not arrive until March!
Then it was several feet deep.
I couldn't be doing with that!
Aldi coming along well.
Looks a bit of a mess but everything will fall into place as they progress.

Good evening, Rusty!
I do hope we shall not have any snow?
I have the necessary footwear.... snow boots fitted with grips...but I still do not want to face the resulting icy and treacherous roads, pavements and paths.
You surely cannot remember the winter of 1947?
You must only have been about three years old?
The dog is going for a trim on Friday....
I thought it was a "safe" move as the weather was warmer!

Good evening, Elle!
No, I can not quite remember 1947, but my father told me all about it, and I have seen photographs.
Some of the country roads around here had very deep drifts.
It was a proper Winter!
Let us hope the rest of this Winter is mild!

Hi, Rusty!
We had some snowy winters in Bolton, when I was a child...... but in those days, I thought snow was exciting!
I was told that folk used to ski back in the Winter of 1940, when the snow on the Bolton hills was especially heavy....... but this was well before I was born.
According to Google, down here , folk were cycling on a frozen Thames in 1947!
That would have been something to see!
