Hello, Elle!
I agree regarding "our" for British.
Very presumptious of the setter.
I knew "cosset" but not "coset".
I thought it a tricky puzzle, but I am dubious about one or two.
6a, Can "galas" be "bashes"? A bit iffy, for me.
But, as I said previously, Wednesday is always the toughest puzzle.
I do not know why the Times want it that way, but they do.
I think most of the recent Presidents except Carter, and George W Bush, were over 6ft.

Hi, Rusty!
I had not managed to do "galas" either, in 6a!
Nor 6d!
Perhaps I shall do better tomorrow, if I have the time to do the puzzle.
I am going out for most of the day tomorrow!
I have promised to accompany a friend who has to go for a hearing test.....
I am not sure quite how I can be of assistance , but perhaps she simply needs moral support.
We are to meet up in Bromley about 11am., which fortunately will allow time for me to take out the dog for her usual walk, first.
Whilst in Bromley, I have a few bits and pieces that I need to buy......
I must make a list!

Hello, Elle!
I did not like "galas".
6d is a bit wonky. "Gig ue"/dance.
A music performance can be called a "gig".
And "u)nicycl(e's frame" are the letters "ue", according to the setter, but I think his interpretation is wrong.
A "frame" is built upon, not the outside part.
So, I can see why you had problems today, Elle.
Oh, just forget the puzzle tomorrow, Elle, your friend takes priority!
I am for out, too.
La Bamba and me are going to Pine Cone.
She was out this evening with her family.
My daughter-in-law's birthday.
They went to a Lebanese restaurant and told me it was great!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is dull today and a tad chilly......but at least is not raining!
A good walk, but a bit on the short side today because of the time element.
I am just grabbing a quick coffee whilst writing this....and then I shall go and get changed out of my dog-walking gear!
I am away to Bromley soon, to meet my friend.
I shall be back about tea time.
Have a great time with Miss La Bamba at the Pine Cone!
Talk later......

Good morning, Elle!
A bit dull here and it is mild.
Hope you get on fine at Bromley!
I have finished my puzzle.
A good one!
I have had another think about yesterday's "gigue" and I retract my comment that it was not a good clue.
There was a meaning of "frame" that passed me by!
La Bamba and me will get on fine at Pine Cone!

Rosalind

I loved your clue on Clueless. It certainly excited me and I thought it would be the winner.

Hi, Rusty!
It is sunny and warm now!
What a change since early morning.
I arrived home a short time ago, to find husband and dog busy gardening.
Now..... while my 'spirit' is certainly "with" them, my 'body' is most definitely not.... that is shortly going to be sitting on the sofa, book in one hand, coffee in the other.....
And I am not going to move from that position for at least half an hour!
I am exhausted!
I may venture out, purely in a supervisory capacity, in a little while......when I have recovered!
How was the Pine Cone?
And I meant to ask you about the Lebanese restaurant?
I have never eaten Lebanese food....is there a particular speciality?

Thank you jigjag, but I put "for fun only" so it wouldn't be chosen, not that I thought it would be anyway! I'm happy to have had a mention.
I don't want to win clueless, I didn't understand this week's winner until explained and don't feel qualified to be a sole judge. Peer review is OK if I can think of a clue (or put one in so I can vote) because it's a concensus.

I've had some Lebanese food, elle. It was all vegetarian, delightful things done with aubergine (iman beyaldi, the iman fainted!), salads and lovely bread, hummus and tabuleh (?spelling) I think we also had some kebabs, made with lamb mince and garlic.

Good afternoon, Elle!
Great day here, too.
I think this is the warmest February day in Scotland for over 100 years!
Pine Cone was great.
One of the girls has just returned from her home in the Tatra Mountains and was telling us all about it.
I only know it was a Lebanese restaurant but not what they serve in it.
La Bamba said it was a lot of different stuff in wee bowls.
They enjoyed it!
