Hello, Elle!
Well, scumbag and yob definitely in Norn Iron!
The South of England would be accurate enough for you, though?
The New York quizman has done his homework though.
I had Dundee, and North West Ireland.
Yes, I am looking forward to the athletics, too.
I'll try and tackle the puzzle early so I can fit everything in.

Good morning, Rusty!
A most miserable morning!
Damp and dull!
I am just home from my walk.
Is the Athletics coverage from Birmingham live?
I am not sure whether the events actually take place today?
But if so, I hope the weather is better than here!
I am going to do a few household jobs......then tackle the crossword!
I am aiming to be "clear" by 1.15pm!
How are things at your end?

Good morning, Elle!
It is a cloudy morn here. Mild, though.
I follow Laura Muir on Twitter and she says she is looking forward to Brum today, so it appears it is live today.
What has put doubts in your head?
It is an indoor meeting.
I finished the crossword puzzle earlier.
One new word for me, at 17a.
A very good puzzle today!
I am watching the skiing.
Wendy Holdener leading just now, but there are faster women still to race.
I was at the building site earlier.
Was watching the lads laying monoblock.
The speed they laid the blocks was astonishing!

Hi, Rusty!
I think I am a bit addle-pated this morning!
Thank you for the links.....
I knew it was an Indoor meeting.....in fact, yesterday, we were even discussing the different lengths on an indoor track, weren't we, when talking about Zola Budd and Kirsty Wade?
I have no idea why I made the remark about the weather.......
A temporary lapse? A senior moment ?
No, I had just wondered whether the Athletics meeting might be recorded, as the BBC quite often produce coverage of events "late".
You have done well to finish your puzzle....I am just about to start mine.

Hello, Elle!
Don't put yourself down regarding the BBC timing.
I think all the BBC programmes run late.
I think even the News is a few seconds behind real time.
Must be a good reason for it.
In the skiing Wendy Holdener is leading after the first run, with Mikaela Shiffrin in third.
My fancy is for Shiffrin to win, though.
Second run is this afternoon.
Good luck with your puzzle!

Hi, Rusty!
Will the skiing clash with the athletics?
If so, wherein lies your allegiance?
Or will you record one event to watch later?
I have (almost) finished my crossword
I thought it a good one today.
There are still about three to parse.....but I shall put the puzzle on one side until after the Athletics.
There is just time to have some soup before the Athletics start...….

Hello, Elle!
Yes, skiing and athletics clash.
Skiing is back on at 2.30 but not sure if that is UK or Swedish time.
Allegiance, Elle?
I think the World Championships skiing takes priority!
And I am rooting for Mikaela Shiffrin.
I like her, she's got a great personality.
There is a good piece (for me, anyway) in Ruth Wild's column today.
One lad wrote in saying he could not have "wifi" as an answer in the Polygon puzzle.
The puzzles editor says it is not in their reference book, "The Concise Oxford Dictionary", but it is in "The Times" style guide.
And if it is not in the "Concise Oxford" it is not allowed!
Then Ruth debated the various spellings of "wifi" with capitals and hyphens etc.
But the puzzles editor (I don't know who he/she is) says it is not in Concise Oxford, and it is not in Collins Dictionary, so it is not allowed!
A bit of a stushie about one wee word!

Hi, Rusty!
I am watching the athletics........but having a bit of exercise in walking over to the computer to write this!
Holly Bradshaw is doing well in the pole vault.....
I hope Mikaela Shiffrin does well in the skiing, as you are supporting her.
You will have to switch backwards and forwards between athletics and skiing........
At least you have the athletics' schedule of events, so can pick and choose what you especially want to see.
What a hoo-ha over "wifi"!
I have the Concise Oxford dictionary as one of my reference books!
