Good evening, Elle!
Yes, you seem to stay in an area where there are parks and woodlands abounding.
Very good!
Now I do not know where I came across this, earlier today, but I discovered there is a pub in Bromley called "The Richmal Crompton".
She was an author and I have read some of her "Just William" books when I was young.
Did she have a link with the area, I wonder?
Yes, the athletics tomorrow.
Dr Muir is trying to break the mile record set by Kirsty Wade many years ago.
Jemma Reekie is running too, possibly Laura's pacemaker?
And I have the skiing tomorrow from Sweden.
Women's slalom, and Mikaela Shiffrin will take some beating, I think.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, London has a surprising number of parks and commons....people do not always realise that.
I do not know "The Richmal Crompton" pub?
I wonder whereabouts in Bromley it is?
I do, of course, know Richmal Crompton , the author, though!
I too used to read the "Just William" books!
William was a very endearing mischievous character!
Richmal Crompton was born in Bury, in Lancashire...not all that far from where I used to live as a child.
Perhaps she moved down South?
I am trying to place Kirsty Wade? I cannot picture her?
But think she was a middle distance runner? 800m?
It will be good to see Laura run tomorrow...Jemma Reekie , too.
You will be busy, if you are fitting in both the Athletics and the skiing!

Hello, Elle!
I was surprised to learn about all London's "green places"!
I do not know where the pub is, but Richmal Crompton taught at Bromley High School, but had to give up her job when she developed poliomyelitis and lost the use of her right leg.
With the money she earned from writing she bought a house for her mother and herself, The Glebe, Cherry Orchard Road, Bromley, or is it Bromley Common?
In spite of her illness, she volunteered for the Fire Service during the last War.
(Now, Elle, I did not know any of this, but found it on Google!)
Kirsty was tallish, with thick, dark, curlyish hair.
I thought the record was held by Zola Budd, but she may have lost it when she gave up British nationality?
The skiing will be good.
The first run is in daylight and the second run under floodlights.
And I may watch a bit of the horse racing, too!

Hi, Rusty!
I have friends live in a 'Cherry Orchard Road', but that one is in Staines!
Now.....I am a tad confused here...
I thought that Kirsty Wade ran the 800m, but that Zola Budd was a 1500m runner? But I could well be wrong here!
It is all some time ago!
And of course , the Indoor athletics have different lengths than do the outdoor races.....
We shall see tomorrow what Laura does.
I think that the coverage starts at 1.15pm
I shall take my usual early morning walk beforehand.

Hello, Elle!
Well, I suppose Laura and the AAA know what they are doing!
The mile race is very rarely run, and I am not sure what Laura will gain by breaking the record (whoever holds it!).
Be good to see, though!

Now here is a good wee quiz I have came across.
I found it to be extremely accurate in my case!
Have a go?

Hi, Rusty!
I have been answering your quiz!
Twice!
That was interesting!
My answers - all bar one set, which placed me in Norn Iron! - classified me as being in the South of England.
( The Northern Ireland classification came from my use of yob. lout and scumbag!)
I found the Quiz accurate up to a point......but I do not speak any differently now than I did when I lived in Lancashire?
I have never had a particular accent, nor spoken a local dialect, so I am not sure how this classifies?
I am looking forward to the Athletics tomorrow!

Hello, Elle!
Well, scumbag and yob definitely in Norn Iron!
The South of England would be accurate enough for you, though?
The New York quizman has done his homework though.
I had Dundee, and North West Ireland.
Yes, I am looking forward to the athletics, too.
I'll try and tackle the puzzle early so I can fit everything in.

Good morning, Rusty!
A most miserable morning!
Damp and dull!
I am just home from my walk.
Is the Athletics coverage from Birmingham live?
I am not sure whether the events actually take place today?
But if so, I hope the weather is better than here!
I am going to do a few household jobs......then tackle the crossword!
I am aiming to be "clear" by 1.15pm!
How are things at your end?
