Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am home again!
It is still a lovely day, but as I am feeling tired, I think the dog has to be content with the time she spent out in the garden earlier.
I cannot possibly manage another walk!
I need coffee and a sit-down!
Yes, I thought that might be the way of it with salmon-fishing. It makes good sense.
Does your son still make and sell his own "flies"?
I remember your tying a lot of them.
Cathy Freeman was quite a character.
I am wondering if this is yet another programme about her? a different one?
The first sounds too innocuous to be tarred with the "activist" brush? reluctant or not?
I shall wait with interest to hear about it!
Donna Fraser and Katharine Marry would have been running at the same time period as Cathy, wouldn't they?
The "exploding" TV is still sitting here, at the far end of the lounge......it requires a trip to the tip........there is a section there for "old" electric appliances.
It is on the "to do" list!
Right....strong coffee......

Hello, Elle!
Yes, you will be tired after gallivanting around Bromley!
Coffee is a great restorative!
Yes, my son makes and sells flies, mainly to USA.
Katharine Merry and Donna Fraser both raced in the final at Sydney.
Lorraine Graham of Jamaica was second, Katharine won bronze, and Donna Fraser was fourth.
It was a good programme.
Katharine was slightly emotional speaking about Cathy's achievement.
Donna Fraser was saying that Cathy came to live and train with her in England before the Games, to escape all the hype in Australia.
I am looking forward to Saturday's programme.
Still mild up here thankfully!

Hello Elle and Rusty!

Rusty, I envy your mildness! it is already minus 4 here with a steady North-Easterly wind so it feels like minus 8C.
And it is due to get even colder for the rest of the week!
I just can't get warm and looking at the frost outside (which has not melted from last night) makes me feel even colder.

I am having a nice warming ox-tail dish later on - that should be rather nice! (Inside fuel...)

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, a cup of coffee went down a treat!
I am recovering now!
Donna Fraser had a rough time in the middle of her Athletics career.
She suffered from breast cancer, and had a mastectomy.
She is a nice lady. A favourite with everyone.
It is freezing cold here - the maximum we were promised today was 2C, but for most of the day, it has felt much colder than that.
It was minus 1 when I went out early this morning.
I am recording "Eggheads" to watch later.... we shall see how the recording goes with the new set up!
Right now........I am going to wash my hair......

Hello, Pigale!
How are you?
It is lovely to hear from you!
I thought of you and your books the other day when we were wondering some origin!
I thought it was cold here...but your temperatures "take the biscuit"!

Hi all
It's probably worth reading the book I mentioned at 11839, if only for the first part of the third section, which is mostly about how the new Pope was elected (that's the bit I re-read).

Good evening, Pigale!
Yes, it is mild here.
My heating has been off for a couple of days.
It was very cold last week, and windy!
I hope you enjoy your ox-tail meal.
It sounds tempting!

Good evening, Elle!
Donna Fraser came across as a lovely lady (as did Katharine Merry), on the programme.
I did not know about her mastectomy.
Poor you and the freezing cold!
We have mild weather here, about 6 or 7 degrees.
Malone and me will be on tenterhooks awaiting the results of the upcoming "recording"!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, Donna Fraser was one of our GB "Stalwarts", wasn't she?
She was always to be relied upon.
Rather like Jenny Meadows has been in later years?
Ah, Rusty, you are teasing me ........
but for a technophobe such as myself, this setting up of the new television is a very serious matter!
Says she "tongue in cheek"!
( I am sure I must get a sympathy vote from somewhere?)
And who knows, maybe I have patented a new way to watch and record - with two aerials?
(Malone, this is your cue to say what a brilliant way I have devised to access my Red Buttons....!)
Seriously, though, within my limited capacity, I think I have done very well!
Don't you think?
Now ....the cold....
I do not consider it "mild" at 6C!
And you say you've switched your heating off?
Brrrh!
Well, I shall go and sit - in the warm - and watch my successful recordings........

Hello, Chris!
I am very sorry... I didn't see your previous post.
I have looked back now and read it.
Yes, that sounds an interesting book to follow up, particularly in the light of the recent discussion about vicars and popes!

Hello, Elle!
I think you are going great guns with the TV!
Let us hope the recording is successful.
Two aerials is a new one on me, right enough!
6 degrees is mild compared to last week.
Posties are not wearing jackets.
That is a good indicator!
I have several "indoor" fleeces to combat the cold if I feel a bit chilly.
I put the heating on when it gets too cold, though.
