Elle, I was - am - hugely impressed with your two-aerial solution. It's something I'd never have thought of, though that's partly because I've only ever had one aerial. The main thing is that you applied logic to your problem - and it has worked. I'm sure you and the Red Buttons will be very happy together, for a long time to come.

Hi, Rusty!
Update!
I did several recordings as an experiment...all successfully.
This seems to be working fine!
You folk north of the border must be made of far sterner stuff......even our postmen are wrapped up well against the elements!
I honestly do not think that turning the c/h off in mid January with a maximum temperature of only 6C is a good idea.
You weren't feeling well last week and said you felt as though you had a "chill".
But I know whatever I say "will fall on stony ground".... or else I'm "batting my head against a brick wall"............ whatever.....
So I shall say no more on the subject!
How are you getting on with your book?
How is Dr Crippen?

Hello, Elle!
Great news about the recordings!
The postie and me were commenting on how mild it was this week.
I am warm again this night and no heating on.
It is 8 degrees outside.
Very acceptable!
I am in top nick now, after being slightly under par.
Miss ATW is just back from Stirling with her new car.
She is very pleased with herself!
Dr Crippen is finished. Was a good book.
I am reading an Irish murder case now.

Hi, Rusty!
Good for Miss ATW with her new car.
Way to go!
How is her flat progressing?
Has she decided upon a moving- in date yet?
Or is the decorating still under way?
I suspect she will have a big house- warming party when she does eventually move in?
There was a question about your volcano on "Eggheads" tonight!
I cannot remember the wording...something along the lines of "Where is there a volcanic geographic feature: Dundee; Glasgow; or Edinburgh?"
Do you know, I haven't looked at a single crossword today?
Now......time for another coffee, I think...

Thank you, Malone, for those encouraging words!

Hello, Elle!
Maybe that's why I am feeling warm?
The volcano is heating up?
Did anyone answer the question?
Not many folk live on the side of a volcano, you know, Elle!
The flat is close to completion.
She had broadband etc installed last week.
I got her a man to fit window blinds and she is delighted with them.
I think maybe this weekend will see her move in.
I have a man and a van for that, too.
I have been invited for a coffee when she moves in.
I think I take a wee house warming present, do I?

Good morning, Rusty!
A beautiful day here - blue skies, sunshine, a hard frost and a temperature of -3C!
All the lakes were frozen!
But the good thing was a wonderfully clean dog! (frozen mud!)
Now for some good news.......I had a look in my new TV guide last night ....
And guess what?
From Saturday, the Australian Open is being shown on BBC2 every day next week from the third rounds!
Only for an hour and a half daily.....but I shall be duly grateful for small mercies!
Miss ATW (or her dad?) has got on well with doing up her new flat.
It sounds all ready to move in.......
You have obviously been very helpful in providing all your workmen to do things like fitting the blinds.
Now regarding a housewarming present....
I know you have already bought a lot of equipment etc for her....but yes, just a small gift would no doubt be appreciated on your first visit!
It kind of christens the flat!
Maybe a nice plant? or a bottle of wine?
Have you been out for your paper?

Good morning, Elle,
8 degrees here and it is a fine morning!
That is good BBC is going to show a bit of the Aussie tennis.
May even be more on Red Button?
Sir Andy is playing now.
He has won the opening two sets, but is getting physio on a foot.
He had a fall earlier.
Lady Murray is watching (no cursing, so far!)
The flat is just about ready, I think.
My son has done well.
He has spent long hours there.
And the tradesmen were sound lads, too.
The blindsman got a 5 star review from my granddaughter on his FaceBook page.
I shall buy a small gift perhaps, but not wine.
I'll float the notion past my son and may get a suggestion.
Or she can take me for a bacon roll and I could "subtly" ask what she needed.

Hi, Rusty!
I think the idea of a house warming gift is just a little something that you turn up clutching in your hand, on your first visit!!
Probably a surprise?
Okay, so maybe not wine........I don't drink alcohol, so I am not well versed in this option!
My daughter wanted plants for her first place of her own, as she said they made the flat look lived in and "homely"!
I have googled "house -warming gifts" and there is an amazing selection - although unfortunately many of them are very "twee", and I fear you (and possibly your granddaughter) would not like them!
You've already bought her "groceries" or that would have been an idea, for instance.
Perhaps a poster for her wall?
Or an Art print?
If you go with the latter ideas, maybe her cousins could help with which one to buy?
How are Roger and Novak doing in the tennis?

Hello, Elle!
Oh, I'll think of something to purchase for the flat.
I would not buy "twee", but something of use.
I do not know about the tennis.
May find out later.
I am following a court case in Edinburgh, that I am interested in, on Twitter, just now.
Will look in on the tennis later and update you.

Hi, Rusty!
Still lovely here - and still cold!
We are away out shortly over to our daughter's for BB's birthday tea (a "cake with five candles" so he says!)
We aim to be there as he comes home from school.
Back sometime this evening after the boys go to bed.......
