Hi, Rusty!
I am sorry to hear about your friend.
You had mentioned that your Norn Iron friends were here for a funeral, but didn't say that it was for a mutual friend.
What a shame - and 51 is so young.
His poor family.
I didn't get chance to watch Eggheads!
The phone rang!
But I have recorded it, so can watch it shortly.
"Cold Feet" tonight , too!
I am in for a treat.
Right....time to organise dinner...
Shepherds' pie and mushy peas, tonight!

Hello, Elle,
I did not know him as well as the Norn Iron folk.
How were the tree fellers?
Is the pup still going in the right direction?
Your shepherds' pie sounds the biz!
That was an awful clue in The Times today.
Was it 1a?
"Piper" sounds like "paper"!!! I think not!
Mr Rogan and his merrie men just do what they like!
Somebody was complaining to Rose Wild on Saturday about the crossword. Can not remember why, though?

Hey, Rusty!
Yes, thank you, puppy seems to be improving slowly but surely.
Did you see my mention to Malone about my Cockney friends referring to "plites"?
(otherwise know to you and me as "plates"!)
If Mr R continues in this vein, I shall be an expert in Cockney vernacular!
And in the QC there was another homophone with which I disagreed........."wail" sounding like "whale".......
It doesn't !
Yes, I read Rose's column....... now what was it .... a complaint about a crossword clue containing the marriage vow answer "I do", when the response is "I will".
Rose said that she forwarded the complainant's email to Richard Rogan, who said that altho' "I do" is not actually correct, it is referred to colloquially, and so he would allow it.
Er.......hello....?
I thought today's 15 x 15 crossword was rather difficult?
I have done three -quarters of it without problem but found the bottom left corner impossible to finish?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I saw "plites"!
Wail/whale? Not at all!
I do not agree with Mr Rogan (often!)
I remember now you have refreshed my mind.
Today's Times was well up to what I call "Times Standard".
The South West corner was my last to fill in.
The port took me several minutes, mostly for the parse.
The movie was "talkie" reversed minus K for thousand.
The port is Eilat, which I presume is in Israel.
When I see movie/film I always think ET!

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been watching "Cold Feet."
Very enjoyable.
Only two more episodes to go in this series.......
I do hope it is going to be continued!
The programme's "resurrection" seems to be a big success, so hopefully there will be more of it.
I have just received a text inviting us to visit, and meet our granddaughter's new half - brother!
That is very nice.......we shall look forward to it.
(I still have to go shopping to buy presents!)
All these complicated relationships........!
But they all seem to work well and everyone seems to be thrive and be happy, don't they?
Babysitting tomorrow whilst younger daughter and her husband go to Parents' Evening!

Hello, Elle!
Well, that is nice about your granddaughter's wee brother.
You best get out shopping,(and add the little chap to your Christmas list!)!
These "complicated relationships" are actually very common nowadays.
Perfectly normal!
And you are "trusted" to babysit?
That is an enormous compliment.
I hope you have a nice time doing it!

Hi, Rusty!
We often look after the children - in various assortments!
The two older grandsons often come to stay with us on their own.....usually for a period of about a week - leastways they are delivered and collected, but remain here by themselves - with us "in charge"!
BB likes to have a "sleepover" - if he had his way, he would be forever doing that!
But this will be the first time we shall be trusted to look after Baby (altho I am sure that BB will "help" us to do that!)
It won't be for very long, as I am sure that these teacher/ parent appointments must of necessity be quick!
I think we are staying on for dinner though!

Hello, Elle!
You must be a dab hand (where did that come from?) at looking after the young ones!
Yes, BB will be to the fore looking after the little one.
Yes, make sure they feed you for your trouble!

Good morning, Rusty!
We have another lovely day! Cold though!
I have just arrived home from the park.......and am having a well-deserved cup of coffee!
Crosswords are to the fore........
I have a free day until we need to go over to our daughter's this afternoon to babysit - I promised we would be there for 4.30!
How about you?
What are you planning to do today?
