Hi, Rusty!
A lovely morning! and a very pleasant and energetic walk!
I expect your granddaughters are with you by now?
You ask what I am doing?
"Tearing my hair" is the answer!!!!
You remember all those forms I had to fill in for the Capital Gains tax?
Well, I not unnaturally thought that to be the end of all the paperwork.........
Not so!
"They " ie the Inland Revenue, have sent me yet more forms......... "this" is what I have been doing all morning!!!
Grrrgh!
Now I have to send them back by Recorded Delivery.
I don't like the bike crashes because I don't like a sport where competitors can get injured or killed - and I HATE the "anticipation" thereof!
Not because I find it "gruesome" to watch.
One doesn't work in a hospital without encountering blood and gore! and worse!
I think - only 'think' mind - that Doha is the capital (?) of Qatar?
Did you and Misses O and L-B go out or stay in?

Hello, Elle!
Well, your paperwork is finished now, job done!
I understand about the crashes.
Bit of info.
Annemiek van Vleuten, who had the horror crash in the Olympic Road Race, is back racing again.
Wherever Doha is, it is getting slammed in the cycling press for being too hot!
They knew that when it was chosen!
The girls are off down town shopping, with Mum.
We stayed home and watched the First Lady singing.
They had not seen it before.
They are both admirers of Michelle Obama. Me too!
It is not warm here!

Sort of reminds me of the opening of a Dashiel Hammett novel - Red Harvest, I think - which goes something like:

The first time I heard Personville called "Poisonville" was by a barkeep, but as he called his shirt a "shoit" I didn't pay much attention.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
It isn't warm here, either, but it IS a beautiful day!
I think it is psychologically beneficial to see the sun, even if it is otherwise "parky"!
Now.......which bit of news shall I impart first.....?
Guess what?
The "tree fellers" are coming back this afternoon to attend to the "missed" tree!
I have to admit to being surprised... I rather thought we had seen the last of them.
But no, they are set to remedy matters mid afternoon!
and ....
I have ordered "The Last Enemy" by Richard Hillary.
I am not sure how much will vary from the biography, but it will be of interest to read Hillary's own slant on the situation.
1p from World of Books.
Have you done your own browsing on Amazon? and made a list of what you want to order?

Oh dear, Malone....I have Cockney friends with whom I walk my dog....... they eat food from a "plite", too!
I shall soon be an expert if Mr R keeps this up!

Chrise, thanks for that - those pronunciations are almost as bad as today's offering from the Times.

Elle, I'm glad there's someone on here who has actually heard these weird and wonderful pronunciations - I was beginning to think the setters were throwing them in just to irritate me/us.

Hello, Elle,
Well done, the tree fellers!
I have not entered my gift card on Amazon website, yet.
I am in no hurry to order a book yet.
Just been reading about Sharon Laws.
She is a GB road cyclist.
They discovered a secondary cancer in her neck.
it took some time to find the primary cancer, but they have found it now.
Sharon was an unsung hero for Team GB.
One of those who did the donkey work for the stars.
Her cancer is treatable but not curable, she says.
A great shame.

Hi, Rusty!
We have just come back from a walk.....the sun is still shining!
Yes, I read about Sharon Laws.
It seems that she has cervical cancer.
A friend of mine died from that about ten years ago now......sadly, she was only 49.
A gift card that you haven't yet entered into your Amazon account?
Am I missing something here ?
Have you recently had a birthday?
I still have a fair amount in Amazon.... but I mustn't get carried away!
I now have a pile of books awaiting reading!
Eggheads to watch soon......

Hello, Elle!
Still nice here.
I had a pal who died last week of motor neurone disease.
A dreadful disease. He was 51.
That's why my Norn Iron friends were over.
For the funeral.
His daughter is one of Miss Around the World's best friends.
The boat is just docking in Belfast now!
A pity for Sharon Laws.
I think I shall record Eggheads.

Hi, Rusty!
I am sorry to hear about your friend.
You had mentioned that your Norn Iron friends were here for a funeral, but didn't say that it was for a mutual friend.
What a shame - and 51 is so young.
His poor family.
I didn't get chance to watch Eggheads!
The phone rang!
But I have recorded it, so can watch it shortly.
"Cold Feet" tonight , too!
I am in for a treat.
Right....time to organise dinner...
Shepherds' pie and mushy peas, tonight!

Hello, Elle,
I did not know him as well as the Norn Iron folk.
How were the tree fellers?
Is the pup still going in the right direction?
Your shepherds' pie sounds the biz!
That was an awful clue in The Times today.
Was it 1a?
"Piper" sounds like "paper"!!! I think not!
Mr Rogan and his merrie men just do what they like!
Somebody was complaining to Rose Wild on Saturday about the crossword. Can not remember why, though?
