12A: Film about Mozart created in Australia (7)
The answer is 'A made US'
But I thought the film was made in the Czech Republic, primarily in Prague? NOT Australia?

Hi elle I think yyou've answered your own question. Australia is only providing the container Aus.

I can see how the answer is derived , Chris, as I've shown below , but surely the clue isn't correct?

I'm querying the 'Australia' part, NOT how the answer is arrived at! I did that part!
- and in any case, surely it would have been better if the setter had put 'AUSTRIA'? (rather than Australia?) at least that is where Mozart was born, even if the film WAS made in Prague!

The problem with Austria being shown instead of Australia, is that the 3-letter code for Austria is AUT, so the answer would not be correct if it was MADE in AUT

I have just checked on the online acronym finder and both aus and aut can be used for Austria !

Elle it's not an &lit clue; the definition is "a film about Mozart". The cryptic mechanics supplying the answer (Amadeus) is " created in Australia" here but could be anything appropruate. In this instance it's also designed to mislead which it obviously has done.
