This still doesn't make the clue either correct or satisfactory!

Personally I don't have a problem with the parsing of the clue. The setter could have used Austria or Australia - both parse

I see what you're saying , Ginge, but I still don't like the clue - I'd have been happier if the compiler had at least put 'Austria'. I wasn't mislead , I did work out the answer - I just didn't like the inaccuracy when it wasn't necessary!

I agree with elle that the compiler missed an opportunity to make a better clue with "Austria", but I also agree that the clue does work as it stands.

@Chrise......
Yes, it works either way...but for better satisfaction, why not be accurate ?!
Anyway, it's sparked some conversation!

Sorry Elle I know you are "new" to cryptics but you are missing the point and I hope this helps. The cryptic mechanics are solely a means of deriving and confirming the solution and not necessarily factually correct and as I said previously sometimes deliberately designed to mislead! It could have been something like "Film about Mozart got Adam and Sue mad"

Ginge, I DO understand what you are saying! I'm just remarking that I personally think that 'Austria' would have made a better clue! ( why not be accurate if you can?)
and I don' think that one can compare the anagram you've given as an example with what could/ should? be a factual clue.
Maybe we can just agree to differ on this one? I appreciate your help.
Happy New Year!
