Yes. The spurtle (or "spirtle") is a Scots kitchen tool, dat from the fifteenth century. It was originally a flat, wooden, spatula-like utensil, used for flipping oatcakes on a hot girdle (Scottish griddle)
Seriously, though, Kenyatta has a point.... there do seem to be a lot of verbal skirmishes on the forum these days.
I didn't 't follow the original thread that was eventually deleted ( not clever enough at cryptic clues to tale part in 'Clueless'), so cannot comment on the content (suggestive/ offensive or otherwise) but am concerned that so much bad feeling keeps arising between various contributors to the site.
Come on, guys, let's try to be more tolerant of each other?

Les, as he had previously stated, did not finish work until 10 pm and on getting home found he did not have access to the site to post (we exchanged further emails after I had left an email earlier yesterday informing him that this week's Clueless had been deleted). I will leave it at that for the moment assuming Les's glitch last night has "sorted" itself allowing him to post.

I was surprised to log in and see this thread still on the front page, never mind second from the top.
The point I would like to make is that the moderator deemed the original unsuitable, therefore it was deleted. Surely that should be an end to it.
By the way Pandora ( I think that was the newcomer's name), welcome to the site. Most contributors are very friendly and helpful, not at all like the nippy sweetie who responded to your post.
