Difficult word to clue?
I'm sure there are many others that could have been chosen.

Question - who is going to set next week's? It would be a shame for Clueless to die out over this difference of opinion (or taste).

Les 40 I presume, by default?

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear from Les again after this.

I hope I can speak neutrally as I never partake in the thread, mainly through lack of confidence.

I doubt whether any offence was meant or intended but having seen references to the word I can also see how it could have gone awry.

I am a woman of a certain age, but having lead a hard life, am not easily offended at all.

The difference is a lack of eye contact, body language and the knowledge of the sensibilities of others when typing on a page is totally different to being in mixed company.

Firstly, since this forum is provided free of charge, it is surely up to the website administrators to decide what is tasteful or not. If we don't like it we know what we can do. Of course Les 40 can leave, although I'm not sure what this would achieve. Aren't we all anonymous?
Secondly, in the overall scheme of things, isn't not offending people unintentionally preferable to creating clever crossword clues?

Perhaps I ought to add that, although I found Les's choice of word surprising (after Googling to find out what it meant), I didn't find it offensive - even the images on Google had a sparkly equivalent of fig-leaves.

I should like to mention that I didn't report the thread, having made my point already.
Time to move on?
