I think Les said (Sez Les!) on the original thread that he would be late judging today, so this will all be a surprise for him.

Hi all you friends and cronies
Given my carping in the past on the matter of taste and tastelessness you may assume that I complained to Admin --But being off line most of the time I didn't. Certainly I was somewhat gobsmacked at Les choice of word. So salacious and tasteless -- it also prevented any nice ladies joining in. We all know Les is much cleverer than this and I hope he will keep us all busy for weeks to come.
On a presumptious note may I offer myself as starter for next week IF Les declines
Sincerely yours
Thea

Anyone who disapproved of the word did not have to write a clue, or even read any of the ones written by the setters.
I see no reason why Les should leave. It would be a great pity.

I agree Rossim and theambler, yes I think you are being presumptuous!

What a storm in a teacup. Les has done nothing wrong, he chose the word, not the clues. He should host the next CLUELESS!

Well said, Saki. What a major over-reaction.
Ironically, there are plenty of threads with much ruder words & phrases. I won't name them in case they are purged as well.
If one doesn't wish to participate, so be it. No need to run to matron & complain. We're not in primary school anymore where certain words would evoke titters (oops).

How about "arse"? Is that forbidden? Remember Lenny Bruce? Grow up, folks.

This post might disappear as well, so save the pages. It seems we are reverting to Victorian times:

I'm taking a break from crosswording & quizzing for a time, but it's perfectly obvious to me that Les should have another go next week: whatever I thought of whatever I saw, if any blame was involved, it can't have been Les's. From what I understood after a brief look in the Net at the meaning of the word, it can only be regarded as offensive in itself if we return to standards
of at least a century ago. Long live Clueless (and Peer Review)!

Oh dear, just joined the forum yesterday - thought I'd get involved wholeheartedly -provided an excellent clue (in my opinion) and find the thread cancelled!! Don't think the chosen word was in bad taste (after all vj's do exist!) it was the replies that were in very bad taste - most of them not even valid clues.

Pandora, so, you thought your clue was excellent and most of the others were not even valid!
Perhaps you should wait until you have won CLUELESS, then you will have earned the right to be the judge of other entries!
