I've solved almost half of the clues, but I have no idea what the theme is.

Can someone give me a hint, please?

And the answer to this one would give a boost, I think:

Ring riders having abandoned Kentucky after call to Scottish riders? (9)

Can't really hint without giving it away totally, and that wouldn't be fair to other solvers. Get the quotation and all should become clearer.

As for the clue, you'll kick yourself. Try thinking of a famous movie scene score for a Coppola war movie ....

The penny's finally dropped!

I'm really struggling to fit these clues together. I'm solved exactly 30, but can't work out how to fill the grid.

Can anyone help with these:

Floor European with punch lacking force and energy (9)
Outrage after head of Euro's expelled from Greek parliament (9)

I would love to help, but finding this one really hard too. If you have help for someone even slower that would be good. I think the downs start just after koto. Only have one of the foreign words and no clue as to theme. Ah well at least I had a good three week run.

I'm in a similar situation only more so, only 19 clues solved and no idea of either quotation or theme. Clues mentioned on previous posts are a mystery to me also. As for filling in the grid I have a few possibly correct in the top left corner but need far more answers before making substantial progress. Knowing that an unspecified number of cells remain blank also doesn't help matters.

Could you just tell me whether or not this bit is right. I'm driving myself mad because the above arrangement seems to be inconsistent with TUM, but I can't see how else to fit them.
