Greig possibly never did, but Edvard Grieg certainly did. Could it just have been a typo?

There is certainly an Italian name connected with musical notation (from many centuries ago) filling one down column, I haven't worked out all the notes yet though.

Of course, Grieg. Eric Morecambe and Andrew Preview eat your heart out

I always used to think that Grieg was an archetypical Norwegian name, but actually it derives from his Scottish great-grandfather, who was called Greig.

Jogamel, thanks for the vote of confidence - but I'm no expert. I finished the grid on Saturday but couldn't see what highlighting was required. I was going to have another bash on Sunday - but foolishly put the paper in the recycling bag and my kind son took it away first thing on Sunday morning.

mrmournful, many thanks , I don't think I would have found it as it didn't mean anything to me even as I was googling the letters

Jogamel, while you drew my attention to the relevance of the Scandinavian composer, I think it's MrMournful who's correctly identified the name to be highlighted, in the next column.
