Who's brain is more scrambled now Syzzie, I hadn't missed the clue in the wordplay file. This is getting spooky now.

Not just my brain. After several PC seizures, finally got through the wordplay file. Thanks for that.

No worries about a couple of glitches in the editing.
Hey, our local paper has an op-ed about libraries being obsolete:
"Libraries have been wonderful community assets for a long time.
But that time has past
[sic]."

That ed will be hiding under a rock for a long time as the letters pour in.
We have plenty of dictionaries, and spell-check doesn't cut the mustard.

Anyway, your puzzle was a nice piece of work. How do you manage it?
Plenty of stars: A - 11, 15, 20, 41, 57; D - 26, 27, 29, 44, 64.
Plenty of others, but the surface reading was excellent for those short ones.

Hope you try another one.

I, too, found nothing wrong with "Oslo"!
Great stuff again, les: thank you for added enjoyment!

Cheers guys,
It's nice to see some positive feedback, I will do another, but will be planning the JE over the next couple of weeks. I might try one in between JE's
I've been reading all night and and didn't realise the time, think I'll turn in now, day off today so may lie in for quite some time. Hard to sleep in this heat at the moment though.

Be cool, Les

That was a great puzzle, Les, even though I couldn't do the NW corner. I had thought of Cleudo and should have remembered the candlestick, though I never have played the game.
I didn't see the problem with Oslo, either- actually, I think I did very briefly see it but overrode the thought.
I like what to do in a weapons amnesty 67 ac, and also 3dn (which I couldn't solve) and 51 dn.
Must have been one good book!
thanks for the entertainment

Hi, Rosalind.

When you mentioned 51D I took another look. I simply used the surface play to get answer, but had no idea about Sue Barker:

It's about time!

Of course, the spokesman's comments didn't really go in the right direction either.

Boy, the UK has all the fun !

I'm sure the UK does have a lot of fun, but not this.
This is a spoof site and this didn't happen.

Even allowing for the very minor blip with "Oslo" this was tremendous fun with the parsing of more than a few requiring a fair bit of thought, so I hope by bringing this to the fore some who may have missed this originally have a go. Lots of really inspired clues with 50a being my stand-out. Bravo Les!
Don't know how you find the time but I hope you get round to setting another at some point.
