On reflection aristo I feel one of the question marks may lie with the clue at 23d)
I had it in my mind that the 'Porky's' sign (from the American 80's comedy film) was a PINK neon sign but now I've checked it out properly, I see it's actually a shade of ORANGE so the clue doesn't quite work.
If you read the clue and imagine the sign is PINK, then it will work.
For anyone who doesn't see what I'm getting at, the clue reads:
Slightly left of the r in Porky's?

Slightly left = Pinko = Def
Slightly left of the r in P[o]rky's is the pink (but really a shade of orange) o

NB: This does not affect the clue at 24d in any way

Oh well, it would have been such a good clue if it had worked out right

I just thought it was P (abbr for pink) O to the left of the R. Works, doesn't it?

By the way, I've never seen the movie. :)

I was a teenager when I watched it aristo and found it very funny at the time, watched a bit when I checked it out earlier and it still has the 'chuckle factor'

Just read back through the posts and am I right in thinking that the Def has been missed.
The word 'Pinko' actually means 'Slightly left' (political views) being someone with socialist views but not a fanatic, more like a tendency to 'lean to the left politically'

Actually, I thought it meant slightly more than slightly left. Got your meaning though.
