The penny's just dropped on my last one --- quite simple, of course! Well done again, les--- you seem to have unlimited horizons!

Excellent, Les! Wonderful clues, and a great device well handled. I do have a few question marks, but will dwell a bit before asking.

Today was my day for sawing up tree trunks, Les, so I've only just seen this. I don't expect to be able to do it but will have a go.

May I make one tiny plea?

Please don't go all "Listener" on us!

Les will have to translate that for me.
It's so hot here I should be wearing trunks. (Do you use "trunks" that way over there?) :)

The Listener Crossword in the Times on Saturday. Will send you this week's.
Am proud of having done 3 in my life, of which one was entirely numerical and based on pyramids. Eg a clue could be "Total number of stones in the pyramid" or "The amount of water allowed per slave per year" Not kidding.

My mama used to refer to by brother's bathers as "swimming trunks" so I guess we do use the word in the same sense.

Nope, i mean the real thing. A 100 feet high ash which fell last winter is slowly being reduced to chunks of firewood.

Evening,

Only just got chance to log on.

Don't worry Rosalind, I'm not that technical to attempt a Listener.
I did enjoy this Harpers style though. I did try to do a bit of research on the Americanisms but thought the rest were quite doable, I did throw quite a few anagrams in so it would be more appealing to everybody.
Cheers aristo, glad you enjoyed it, don't hesitate to ask about your question marked clues, I won't be offended with that, in fact, it will be good to explain my thinking behind some of them.
If you don't want to post a 'Spoiler' just drop me an email and I'll do my best to explain any outstanding wordplay.
Just off to iron my shirt for morning but will be back soon pal.
