Hi violin.
19. Think of a 'sort' of strike from work
41. For the second word think of an oriental dynasty.
65. Drink = action of a dog when it drinks
75. Word for papers = press. Insert two article words.
Hope this helps and you enjoy your Easter !

I'm not happy with the young lady in the doghouse for 28 either!
Can I beg a clue to 59 please? I'm thinking of going into the ark, non-believers, jugs, and steamships without getting anywhere...
Oh, and no. 70 too. Maybe thoughts of Robinson Crusoe are blocking the way.

Hi hidunc.
59. Pre -christian = bc
inside vessels of the sailing variety.
70. Look up 'cats' in chambers 10th edition, you will find the answer there.
28. I think everyone has kennelmaid - non of us are happy about it but can get no further. Only thing I can see is the abbreviation for Denmark is DK. But that is rather lame.

Thanks, totally ignored the b.... vessels! [for some reason the brain said they weren't big enough to qualify.]
Yep, can't wait to borrow my Chambers back.

Can you find a significance for the old english name of Kennelm? Is it actually danish in origin? Only thing I can think of.

Hi hidunc re question 28. Kennelm is a male name and I can find no danish connection. However I went into hints and tips for Daily Telegraph crossword 27042 (you could google this) and the identical question there received this hint.....A cryptic definition of a young woman who is employed by an establishment where Great Danes, amongst others, are boarded or bred.
I'm still sticking with kennelmaid. Your thought would be interesting.

Winnie I have done exactly the same thing and it just confirms in my mind that what we are all putting is correct. There was one clue like this in the last quiz, we none of us felt 100% sure about it. I am embarrassed to say that I am still stuck on what are probably the 2 easiest....67 which I know is another word for pulls plus er Is it T....R? Same with 90, I know it's another name for hair + a soldier but it won't get into my thick head of hair and into my brain. Any other little tiny hints please?

Re 67 you sound as if you're toeing the line.
90: ... think of kinda poetic synonyms - for the hair, that is. The term for a soldier is more straightforward - or it would be, the other way around.
There's no such thing as an easy question, and I guess it's worth bearing in mind that the setter probably wasn't 100% happy with all of his questions!
