I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Exaggerates fortune before turning to sin (5,2,2)
2. Wind up traffic for the safety of trippers (6,8)
3. Proponent of beer-drinking display (7)
4. Profit repeatedly? (5,3,5)
5. Guyanese flower reproducing seed (late Mar/Apr) while shedding petals (8)

What a pleasant surprise- I'd forgotten it was Tuesday! Got 1, 3, and 5 right off. Will have to ruminate on 2 and 4. I hope they aren't pesky Britishisms...

Well 4 certainly isn't one. Just need 2 now...

Well done Ari. I try to vary the difficulty slightly each week. Hope my clues are not getting too obvious. J

Having a go but only 1 and 4 at present.

My only definite one is 5. I may have 4, but it's a bit dodgy :)

Chrise! With great difficulty! LOL. Mostly trial-and-error But the clue must also make some sense in fitting the principal definition.
