i always think of any clue of the same type as 5 as a Jolanism (another one today http://www.crosswordsolver.org/forum/290296/times-crossword-championship ).
still stuck on the 1st 2 and don't think i will get them now, have to go out, look forward to answers. Cheers Jolan

Been on the run. All I've got:
1- PILES IT ON
3- APOSTLE
4- AGAIN AND AGAIN
5- DEMERARA

Assumed that "for the safety of trippers" was the def, tried to think of something like kneepads.

Only two and an iffy one:
3. support @
4. again and again
5. demerara

typo. support ?

I was thinking more "electrical" for 2!
Still don't have anything to show for either 2 or 3 though!

Ari. Hope 2 doesn't turn out to be a Britishism!!! I'm beginning to think a "?" might have been warranted at the end of 2. And maybe the answer is not used in the US of A. So, sorry in advance.
