COD? Well, I liked 21 and 29, and also 12.

Agreed, fun and (overall) well clued but a quick solve. Thanks to Brummie (I also enjoyed today's Private Eye).

Not certain of parsing for 5, though the solution is clear. Had some trouble with a couple of cryptic definitions.

LOI 27. Tough homophone for an American plus UK GK. Fortunately the GK is fairly common in crosswords, so I recognized it.

Given my weakness for "Pauline" clues, 12 is COD. Runners-up 22 and 19. Also liked 7, 3, 21, 8, 17 and 26d.

Your reference to 27 made me realise that I had listed the non-existent 29 as one of my CsOD when I meant 27 (and as I solved it I did think that it would cause a bit of difficulty across the Pond - made up for, perhaps, by 2, which however fell into place nicely with the fodder and a crosser).

I parsed 5d as you did, ilippu (and I can see no other viable parsing), but the clue to the first two letters is less than satisfactory in my view.

Well, on the plus side it's novel wordplay for an extremely common solution. 😬 It could have been the hackneyed f***t homonym.

Having parsed it, I will add 1d to my list, and also as a contender for COD.

An adult joke about a couple making love in the beach comes to mind. The rest of it is a spoiler.
