Came to this somewhat late this week. Agree that it was well up to E's usual trickiness. Also agree about 5D - have added it to my short list of all time favourites.

5d is as good a clue as one is ever likely to see:-)

It's interesting Brendan my brother's a Telegraph crossword fan and it's clues like 5d that he just can't get with and won't move across. Whereas like you I think that is genius.

Hi everybody

You won't be surprised to learn that I’ve not done many and parsed even less. I started at 3.00pm and didn't get any of the across clues. At 4.30pm, I decided not to waste any more time and went to visit a friend instead. Dan Word confirmed some of my guessed answers, but I still couldn't parse them. For example 4d. I really can't do Enigmatist, so I must remember not to waste my time trying. There is always next week.

Roof - 14D
Split into 3 and 4 and read it with a question mark.

21a isn't very good. It's 1, then 4 (very loose for "connection"), including 2 for "training" (again rather loose)

Coming here late: solved 16 from a hint here (never heard of tge phrase), which then provided crossers to solve 22 and 19.

But I have 3 unsolved : 24, 20, 26.

Is anyone still around to help?

And I can't parse 12 at all though have an answer which fits 4 crossers and the first definition.

And, now I look again, we couldn't parse 17: fits all crossers and last 4 words defn, but nothing else. Any help?
