Loved the double clues! Grid complete now (including both 20 across options) but I feel there is more to do... Should I be searching for a creature? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

The preamble wouldn't seem to suggest it, Hugh. But I could well be wrong. Really enjoyable, not least because at first look I thought it was going to be impossible. Turns out it was relatively painless

I enjoyed this, I always like something different. The 'lie' definitions, instead of misprints or the missing letters etc.
Bit disappointed with how bottom row worked out, but still fun.

I loved this one and thought the question and description/statement was very clever and satisfying in how it related back to the steps needed to fill the grid.

I too liked the way the question indicated which version of 20ac was correct.
I'm puzzled about the parsing of 12ac first part. I see the definition and first letter of wordplay but then no idea.
