Jack, many thanks, you anticipated my faulty reasoning exactly. Unfortunately, it hasn't confirmed my conjectured start to filling the grid but I'm too far in to give up.

Really struggling this week but it's difficult to see how anyone could give hints! Would the letter that will be in the top left corner square be possible please?
