I would think this is almost impossible without access to relevant the “section in Chambers”.

I have a name that fits 30d and is in the Chambers list but noted as ‘of uncertain meaning’ so that can’t be it.

Have not consulted my Chambers yet, but have enough to pick the theme.

Chambers 13th edition is required and I have only the 12th. Yet another unsatisfactory puzzle from Doc.

I was able to confirm all the unclueds except 28 from the 1998 edition of Chambers; 28 is in the 2008 edition.

Jono you read my mind - although as far as I can see it is impossible even with Chambers as there are alternative spellings in two clues where the debatable letter is unchecked...

I have some old, largely retired editions of Chambers (as well as the 13th). Assuming my answers to the unclueds are correct, they are all in the relevant section of the 11th edition (2008), so you should be alright with the 12th. My answers to the following unclueds are not in the equivalent section of the 7th edition (1988): 12A, 16A, 26A, 30D.

I thought this was largely OK. The only clue I thought questionable was 42A, where "and wins" might be better worded as "to win".

Can't argue. The (Northern Irish) word that fits at 38 isn't in BRB, so by default we're stuck with the Southern Irish version. However 28 isn't unclued although it's a forename. Unless I'm going blind I can't see what 24 is though.
