No problem Brendan. For some reason that letter to represent posh has bypassed me in my career so far. Sadly by the time it comes up again I will have forgotten. 😁

5d was tricky because there was both an alternate "pet" and "food" that fit the crossers but didn't parse.

True geeker but when you can't parse the correct answer either you have no idea where to go. Same with my 1d. I think that was where Kite had me on the run.

At various times I wrote in an incorrect "pet" and "food" for 5d. Only on reviewing the filled grid did I figure out parsing and correct my solution.

As you can see by mine @28 and 32, I was torn between the two wrong answers, the pet and the food....

After I thought of a *third* wrong answer, pet (verb), the parsing penny finally dropped.

For 1d I had two answers. Couldn't parse parse either of them. Then replies from here suggested neither were right and then I got the right answer but still needed the replies to figure out the parsing of that.

This was a more subtle and difficult challenge for me than I thought.

I've just noticed that one online site gives the incorrect 'pet' answer for 5d.
