Dylan, Simond9x

That's a shame as the partition and reconstruction is quite neat and pretty straight forward once you know where to start.

Nearly all of your removed letters should be one of a related group of four. There are 2 consecutive letters in the acrosses and three in the downs that's aren't. These form the basis of the 4,4.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you dylan., but in addition I cannot spot the removed letters in 3 and 28 down.

dylan - no problem :-)

SH - yes, nearly all my removed letters belong to a group of four. I can see 4-letter word in both the Acrosses and Downs but they don't give me any indication of where to start. Maybe I'm misreading or have gone wrong.a

Thanks hw7, I now have my grid cut into four pieces, but haven't yet figured out which one to discard nor how the other 3 (TBD) piece together.

Finally found the appropriately labelled piece, so I am assuming that the pieces I have left are the correct shapes. A bit more grid staring needed for me.

All done now. I was thrown off the track for a while due to making an incorrect diagonal cut! It's a good job that was in my spreadsheet, otherwise I might have run out of sellotape.

Simond9x - you should have 3 '4 letter down word' that meet the '4 letter across word' of the grid. They are the 3 places to start.

All done except for one niggling thing, i.e. I cannot parse 24 down, even though I am fairly certain what the unchecked letter is. Would someone be kind enough to put me out of my misery?
