I’m surprised that no one has mentioned 4d. Last one to get and it’s evading me!

It’s just dawned on me. How irritating to get some tricky ones (22a 2d and 11a) and then fail to spot the obvious. Lazy assumptions about the first word of the clue on my part. No excuse.
Thank you Everyman for a stimulating puzzle. COD:11a. (Also I thought 1a was very good).

Not sure why 'cycling' has the effect that Everyman thinks it has in 21D. And surely it would be better if 'No. 5' were dropped in 22A? Otherwise a fun challenge, though, with quite a few candidates for COD. In the end, the very clever primary/&Lit just about takes it for me. (If only because it's not indicated with 'primary' for once!)

PS I don't think any of that needed saying twice - Captcha just went a bit crazy on my phone 🙄

Hi Phil, I’m ok with ‘cycling’ as a device, it’s generally accepted, but I like your “No. 5” idea :-)

I got the bold Timothy when I woke up - nice use of LSD & heads!

Even with the answer to 10d, I’m scratching my head. Is there a free Chambers I can download?

@raffles: 10D comprises two words in the clue "turned out" - i.e. emptied out.

Could someone explain 21d again, please?
'Mechanically produces seat for cycling'?
I can see the seat, and I can see that a letter is cycled, but I can't see why Mechanically.
