I enjoyed this puzzle – most challenging, but persevered and was pleased to get there.

I completely agree. I didn't even get close to picking a COD as I had so many contenders that, as much as I tried to shorten the list, I just couldn't.

Well didn’t take till next Saturday! Totally agree with you Brendan so many brilliant clues and 15 may be risqué but so clever no puerile schoolboy humour here. I may brave finished but will probably take rest of week to fully appreciate Brockwell’s brilliance. Suppose it’s back to the cricket now if we are still batting!

Almost fnished, Tues pm: ìt's been a busy couple of days!

Used crosswordsolver for a couple, read the forum, still couldn't solve 13a even with 25 solved and all4 crossers. Then told my husband about the Nina and theme, which I hadn't noticed but shich helped me get 26d, and he suggested the 2nd letter of it, after which I solved the whole.

Some very clever clues here! Thanks, Brockwell, if you're still reading.
