I believe 21a is a triple definition, single in the record sense...

Hit single just occurred to me as I was chopping onions (no connection!)

Only about 15 minutes in so nowhere near finished yet but is the definition of 9a the last word? The wordplay gives an obvious answer but I don't think I've ever seen that as a definition.
