Will the numerical puzzle be appearing next week?

Captaincoma, yes - there's a message to that effect under this week's puzzle.

I agree entirely with JBird54 and RHSL.

It's good to see that people are looking forward to the numerical as I am too. Lets hope it takes a littler longer to complete than this weeks challenge.

Completely agree with other comments as to the level of challenge provided by this one. My only difficulty was self-inflicted as I decided before even starting to fill the grid that as today is the anniversary of the defenestration of Prague the ‘flight’ in question was going to be the one taken by two Bohemian courtiers out of a Prague window on 23rd May 1618. And so I wasted a bit of time early on looking for places where I could insert their names (Borita and Slavata).

Hopefully it’s not revealing too much to say that no knowledge of the causes of the Thirty Years War turned out to be required.

It's funny how different solvers have different experiences. I agree this is at the easier end, but for me there were enough slightly trickier clues to make it worthwhile. I finished with about 6 I couldn't fully parse, and I still have 2 that I'm wrestling with.

And I also got slightly held up by assuming the flight in question was a different famous flight which also has an anniversary this weekend (and not the thirty years war one).

While I agree that this is at the easier end of the scale, I would say it is properly "entry level". The McGuffin is not immediately obvious and the subject is well hidden. Yes, we have had a couple of utterly facile offerings this year - Chalicea's stands out - but this is not one of them

I had what might be yet another flight anniversary in mind, prompted by the title and accurate to the day!

I enjoyed this one, but agree with what seems to be the consensus that there are a few too many more accessible puzzles. I hope that the editors realise that the high level of difficulty attracts new solvers, too. I'm one of them.

Thanks to Hotspur for a relatively gentle but very enjoyable puzzle. A pleasingly symmetrical final product.

What makes a puzzle easy? It was certainly fairly straightforward to fill the grid, but there were quite a few less common words and definitions, which made some clues tricky to parse. I think anyone new to Listeners would have found this both challenging and satisfying.
