Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer and details of any you already have. Any special instructions or additional information, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.

The theme...
Help with the theme may also be sought and given here too. The help should be fairly gentle in nature - just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction (and certainly not anything that would spoil the puzzle for others).

If you feel that too much has been revealed, too much information has been given, please contact the site administrator - Norah.evoluted@aol.com. Norah errs on the side of caution, so anything iffy is likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

I think there were several other comments. I know there was one from Hamish Soup, simply reminding people that he has added some info to the Listener 4919 thread, more background to the setting of this puzzle.

Shouldn’t we have a numerical this week as the penultimate week in May?

Cathyhuns, there was an earlier brief explanation on the Forum as to why this week now doesn't feature a numerical puzzle. I think an anniversary puzzle somewhere along the line interfered with the schedule.

Thanks. I can only complete numerical Listeners so only look at this Forum when they’re expected. I’ve tried the wordy ones and just get nowhere.

A well-constructed puzzle, but I'm afraid that it is too easy for a Listener. Even "entry level" should provide more challenge than this.

As ever, I qualify the above by saying that I have never set a crossword puzzle, let alone a Listener. I am hugely impressed by those who can.

rhsl - I agree entirely. I commented earlier, but that was 'deleted' when the thread was 'relaunched'. I couldn't set a crossword either, and I am not criticizing the setter in any way. IMO, there have been too many easy Listener puzzles this year. If this is a deliberate editorial decision, I think it's a pity.
