Made it. Initially misled by the unusally large number of famous folk in the solutions, but that is the name of the game. Not until i finished that I reread the intro and fully understood the hint in the last sentence.

Final comment. Does not matter to me (I never submit), but others will surely want know whether to enter the clue solution or the grid entry.
