I had the same thoughts regarding 29a thinking that they spoke In........, but, after checking Chambers, it appears that, as an adjective, it means "of or relating to [29a] or their languag".

... except Chambers spelt language correctly!

Whatever name you use weren't they a collection of distinct groups each with their own language?

Probably just a coincidence, but an interesting pair of words specially accommodated in rows 12 and 4 of a somewhat unusual grid.

Also seeing many meaningful word combinations with parts of various solutions added before and after the word in row 12.

Well I didn't actually find filling in the grid too hard, except for a bit of a hold-up breaking into the top left corner. Having done that, I still can't parse 1a, 10a, 2d, 4d from that area, but I'm pretty sure they're right.

In the rest of the crossword, 19a, 24a, 26a, 31a, 17d, and 20d also unparsed. In my defence I have a hangover to contend with. Will come back later when the fog has lifted.

10a vehicle 3 plus selected letters 3 out of 5 going the other way

2d 5 for over reversed plus 2 after stripping

4d second letters of 2 words following 'to' plus symbol for an action giving a 4-letter word
