English I - ‘involved’ (anagrammed), (contained) in the extra word in 12A; four letters.

Restored letters are in third, third and sixth words of 1D, 2D and 10D. The first two letters reference an answer.

Struggling with the lower part of this, any tips for 36a would be very welcome. I guess definition is first four words, not sure what the extra is.

You're right about the definition. The wordplay is 2,5,3, the 5 being particularly obscure.

Lumen - yes, def. as you state. Wordplay is 2+5+3. The 5 is a name from an opera.

Enjoyed this thoroughly but at the moment I’m falling at the final hurdle, All done except for “completing 40 as 41 to represent the venue”. I have the venue as 7 letters (two words) but 40 has 8 cells. Maybe I should sleep on it….

Oh lord, “represent” not “spell”. The deafening noise you can hear is a man delivering a thorough self-kicking. Thanks, Muraria.
