Lovely Puzzle (and theme is in my industry too!)

Parsing of several down clues took me some time so the event was the last thing I worked out, but lots of very satisfying PDMs along the way.

It’s all done, but I can’t make much sense of the clue to English I, or the wordplay for the description of the event, where I’m missing the extra letters for 1,2 and 10 d.
Any tips please?
