"All are verified in Chambers" -- but not in the main alphabetical body of the dictionary. Doc pulled this same trick in November with 2730.

It should really say "the printed edition of Chambers". The appendix is not in my Windows or Android apps.

Will37, I don't see it as a trick - I actually quite like the slight sneakiness of it!

I wasn't necessarily being judgmental about Doc's trick, Malone . I was just drawing the attention of fellow solvers to a potential tripping hazard!

Thanks, Will37. Many of Doc's puzzles aren't what they used to be, a part of me feels it'd be better to have the potential tripping hazards by way of compensation!

Am I right to say that for example, the end of 39a is the start of another clue?

Your letters are correct for 29 A. The 'Now and again'is a very common crossword clue device - just pick out the alternate letters - from there onwards. You'll get an old (Spencer,poet, writer) word for 'Lose'.

N00... the end of 39 A does include another unclued entry/theme word(not a 'clue' as such).
