Ok... There is ambiguity so because I worked it that the first word in 13 is connected to 20 and 17 is connected to 20. So I believed I had the 5 already! I will wait for the solution.

well. it was a bit like pulling teeth but I certainly learnt some new words. Very doubtful if I'll remember them, but 7d might stick in mind. Like others, was stuck on 39 for a good while before realising it was a double. The abbreviation in 31 was new to me and worth trying to remember. Was stuck trying to get clerestory to fit 12 - when I eat one every night! Have to say, in the end, it was a very clever compiling ...

Yes I enjoyed it too. Lots of new info learned. Incidentally I was looking up the unclueds on the web when they're all very helpfully listed in my red compendium of random information (aka The Chambers Crossword Dictionary).

Hey Malone, you appear to know everything about crosswords, do you know whether this CCS site is available on subscription and therefore ad free ? I am finding the high ad content obstructive and CCS havent replied to my request ....

Hi Gerba, if you are looking to remove ads you can use one of the free adblockers (AdGuard or Adblock Plus are the ones I’m aware of). They work very effectively on this site and others. There is no subscription option btw.

I can second that Jono. I use Adblock Plus and just went on the CC site and completed the most recent themed puzzle, unencumbered by ads.

On a possibly related matter, I was prompted to update my Spectator app yesterday, and did so.

Last evening I noticed my iPhone (which is only 6 months old) was getting quite hot, for no particular reason (only 5 or so apps open, nothing unusual).

I was wondering if this might be new Speccie app-related; has anyone else experienced similar? I closed the app last night and the machine is now running at normal temp. Thanks for any feedback and my apologies for being a bit off topic.
