A lot of effort required but worth it! Apart from the 1a issue, I thought this was great and almost worth missing out on the morning sunshine. I had 26 incorrect until late which stymied 20 which ultimately is my COD.
Also enjoyed 3a 15a and 23a.
Can’t parse the first part of 25a……

25a involves a single letter replacement in the middle of the solution.

The parsing of 25a has been driving me mad for hours !
Any hints apart from the one already given would be very gratefully received ?

Can I get some help on 13d? I think I’ve got it and the whole thing means the first word but I can’t parse it at all. Or maybe I’m wrong and if so my acrosses are very wrong.

13d is an anagram.
