SH, the first is a single word for 'on the coast', with a 1-letter abbreviation moving sideways.
I think the other answer 'sounds like' a synonym of 'mouse', as in discolouration of skin.

I've solved quite a few of the clues, but without the 13 letter entry across the top I can't fit them.

You could try again to fit things together without the 13-letter answer. It's not impossible.

Jason655, as 1a and 1d start with the same letter, if you have a 6-letter answer that is listed close to the 13-letter one, that is likely to be 1d.
