Great puzzle, just the right level for me. I worked out the theme word and Googled it with the abbreviation and got the explanation that way. Thanks Charybdis.

Thank you Charybdis. Agree with previous comments, excellent construction. Following instructions, however, only got 36 letters. Back for a rethink.

Ha ha! Fell for that one. Moral, read the instructions properly.

Iratus, yes, but you can probably imagine what we were doing wrong. Doh!

Two hints would be helpful for me. Firstly the "element of verse" clue is baffling me, and secondly, is the instruction 6 words long?
The 3 letter abbreviation means nothing to me, nor google for that matter!
