Picked this up on a very depressing train home from London as I contemplate another Arsenal blow out.

Thought it was going to be tough at first but once I got the theme it flowed nicely even though some of the GK was quite obscure. Many anagrams helped. Very enjoyable thanks Kite.

FOI 1a. LOI 26a. A word I'd never heard of.

COD I liked 5a for the misdirection.

Still can't parse 11a.

11a is a (4th) letter substitution. I liked the puzzle but found this a relatively lacklustre clue.

Hi Rocky,

I was watching the highlights on YouTube and the most common comment was Quadbot.... - you can guess the rest.

For the record, I thought it was harsh.

11a - If you "wrestle" with something you ........ with it. Convert that into "wrestlers" and swap "acknowledged at first" for "united" to give "those late".

Sorry, swap "united" for "acknowledged at first".

Hi everyone

I thought that most of this was relatively easy, though I struggled with the last five, got one wrong (4d - kicked myself), didn't know a couple of words and didn't really spot the theme. All the anagrams helped.

I started late as usual and had to break off several times - to do the ironing, get the washing in etc. There are several I couldn't fully parse, mostly covered in the thread above. Is Kite a doctor?

I still don't understand 11ac,12ac, 27ac and 28ac (though the latter may be because I don't follow cricket and my husband has gone out).

FOI 18ac, LOI 12ac and COD 14ac followed by 23d, 1a and 5d

Hi roof
12a was my favourite clue. It's a "sounds like".

Hi, roof. Someone, Jono I think, explained 11 earlier. 27 is a two letter musical note, with a five letter record (noun) as in a log.
