Could someone please give me a gentle nudge for 27a and/or 24d. I am truly hoping that they produce two clashes. My 18 remover letters must be incorrect as the first 8 and last 5 seem ok, but the other 5 do not produce any word(s).

27A - wordplay is 3/4/1 for a 4:4 entry.

You are correct in that changes 9-13 inc. do not form a word.

We finally stumbled over the line using brute force and ignorance.

Now got a full grid and understand letters 9-13 inc. of the removed letters - just pondering how to complete the end game.

buzzb, think children's tv programme - fairly old. I think that's right, works for me anyway.
