@jordan - the thematic entries are wordplay only.

This one must have been easy - I completed it by Sunday lunchtime. Don't be too hard on the setter: an occasional easy one is welcome. Indeed I am just about to settle down to watch my beloved Wales play so will need cheering up later today.
I take it 11 down is thematic - I am not very familiar with the work.

Straightforward, obviously. But please don't be disrespectful to Chalicea, who consistently provides entertaining puzzles.

Bobbycollins, I'd never want to be disrespectful to anyone, but I don't feel that saying a puzzle is 'a bit too easy', 'too straightforward' and 'far too easy' falls into that category. I did, however, sense a great amount of disappointment on the Forum.

Our Listener threads have quite a few regulars, with a real mix of taste and abilities. I sometime wonder if the setters have their own little 'group' or Forum - where they can discuss (freely) their views on what solvers have said!

I found the theme inside a minute and have completed the main grid but cannot find the quotation. Am I missing something? Is it from the actual work at 1ac? OR even from the author at 3dn

I took the short time required to complete this (45 mins) as an opportunity. I bought a copy of the i newspaper when I was out on Saturday morning and spent a couple of happy hours on Inquisitor 1947, rather regretting that I'd not tackled any of the previous 1946. Perhaps I'll do the same next weekend as we're due numbers from The Listener.

@marknew - there are two works referenced here.
The original that has the quotation in it and one whose title is taken from it.
There are also a couple of names of people who wrote about one of the characters.
